Located in the Western region of Yirgacheffe, Chelebesa is the largest coffee growing area in Gedeb with a total of 1240 hectares of coffee farms. This brand new station buys coffee from around 170 farmers who have between 0.5 and 2 hectares each.
The cultivars are Welisho and Dega and the cherries undergo a 72 hour fermentation during the wet process. After fermentation the cherries soak for 2 hours before drying and hand sorting.
In the cup, expect the typically lemon Yirgacheffe characteristic, but this coffee is very fruit and floral driven too, with lots of beautiful complexity. Simon’s ‘go-to’ coffee is always a washed Ethiopian and on first cupping this, he was as enthusiastic as ever. We hope you enjoy it too.
