Kagumoini AA, Kenya (170g)
Notes: Black Grape, Prune, Maple Syrup
Yes, it’s another year of Kagumoini. When it’s good, why would we not? From the Mugaga Cooperative with a host of farmers all with around 250 trees each, the Kagumoini Wet Mill in Nyeri is famous for all the good reasons. Transparent pricing for farmers, credit facilities for schools fees, and advance payments for farmers in the case of emergencies, it does straight up good as well as ensuring that the coffee coming from it is consistently very high quality.
From 1500-1700m above sea level, this SL28/34, Batian and Ruiru 11 crop is harvested, pulped, fermented, washed, dried and milled before it’s transported to us. When we cupped the pre-shipment samples, the intention and dedication at each stage of each process was clear. We scored this highly and the syrupy, dark fruit in it was striking and immediately made it onto our ‘buy’ list!
We do hope that you enjoy it and before you ask, we couldn’t choose a brew method that would do it adequate justice. This one will taste exceptional through espresso or filter.
